Native to Vanuatu the Sunshine or Winin palm is considered endangered due to habitat destruction.

The Sunshine Palm is an attractive palm tree of great ornamental and landscape value due to its tall, thin stem and elegant crown of leaves. It works well as an isolated specimen, in rows at the sides of streets, or as a group in parks and gardens, even at a relatively small size. The Winin has a long crown shaft that supports ten or so, large and beautifully arching leaves. Pendant leaflets are closely spaced together giving it a very full and ornamental look. This palm is widely seen in botanic gardens both in Florida & Hawaii.   

Veitchia winin likes moist soil and responds well to fertilizer. It is not particularly demanding about soil, but grows best in deep, well drained rich organic mediums. It tolerates salt well and can be used near the coasts. Grows best in partial to full sun.
